Outcomes
Tell Nova what you want from the idea and the work reshapes around it: the experts at the table, the questions they ask, how the idea is scored and the documents you leave with. A patent is one path. Many ideas are better served by another.
Where it can go
These are directions your idea can take, with examples of documents for each. Choose a starting goal in the brainstorm, then use intents to shape a product, business or process. You can change direction as you learn.
Understand the idea, the field it sits in and the skills it needs, without committing to anything yet.
A science fair, a hackathon, a capstone or a class challenge: a testable question, a clear method and a strong showing on the judges' own rubric.
Find the riskiest assumption, plan cheap tests with real people, and prepare the story investors will ask for.
For SMEs and teams: the next version worth building, or a process that is safer, faster or less wasteful, measured against what you have today.
Investors, or non-dilutive funding such as a grant: read the idea against what funders look for before you write a word of the proposal.
The hero shot, the campaign story, backer personas, rewards, unit economics, fulfilment and a disclosure check before launch.
Release the idea for anyone to use and improve: what to release, the licence questions to take to an adviser, and how others can repair and rebuild it.
What is licensable, its fields of use, the kinds of licensee that might fit and what each would need to see.
Some advantages are stronger kept quiet, especially process tricks competitors cannot see from outside. The crew will say when keeping quiet beats filing.
When protection is the goal, a project takes the idea through prior-art search, drafting and a mock examination to an attorney binder you can file yourself or hand to a professional.
Intents
A goal says where the idea is heading. Intents say what a good result looks like. The Idea page and its scorecards read your idea against the intents you choose, so a class project is not judged like a startup.
Documents
Each one is written from your Idea and arrives with an evaluation: whether it meets the bar, its weakest part and what to improve. You accept it or ask for changes, and download it as PDF or Word.
When you want a structured build
A project follows FORGE, five phases with a decision gate between each. Members start projects with Focus, Pro adds Observe, and a one-time project grade opens Refine, Grade and Execute for that project. The patent and trade-secret journeys run end to end today. Other goals start from the same evidence base.
Honest limits
Every document is a draft for you to review. A pitch, plan or campaign does not assure investment, backers, sales, a grant or an award, and projections and market figures are estimates. IPGuru does not give legal, financial or investment advice, raise money for you or choose your licence. Where a decision has legal or financial consequences, take advice from a qualified professional.
Start with the idea and the goal. The panel, the questions and the documents follow from there.
